Children’s fashion walked into my life way before I even considered having offspring of my own. Years ago while working at Child Magazine (the baby Vogue at that time), as their Fashion Director of Publishing, I attended European children’s fashion shows. It was then I realized the enormity of this sub culture. I was in awe watching these tots strut catwalk creations that almost mimic Fifth Avenue designers. Years later (I’m aging myself), the trend crossed the pond and now dressing your kids is just as important as yourself. More and more companies jumped on board and created off shoots of their lines to incorporate “mini me” fashions. As a stylist, I work with children putting together their professional comp cards, help shop for seasonal wardrobes or decking them out in photo shoots. Styling children can certainly be a small challenge, but I truly love it and am very lucky to have a fantastic roster of tot clients. Now, that I’m a mom to a cool dude and fashion is an integral part of my life, needless to say, he is a dapper and well dressed (little gent).

Here are my top styling trends for tots:

Mix prints

Try mixing stripes with plaids or checks with a whimsical motif like embroided lobsters or flowers.

Add layers

I recognize this can not be done on the playground or school, but when there is a special occasion try adding a blazer over a shirt (rolling cuff out), or a fur vest over a tunic and leggings with lace up booties for girls.

Blend styles

Mix preppy with trendy (like seersucker pants with a denim jacket and loafers), or sweet with rock and roll (such as a cute pink dress with faux leather jacket and cute bow hair accessory)

Jump onto Pinterest and Instragram and look for inspiration for dressing your children. Pinterest boards for the youngsters are popping up everywhere as well as Instagram posts. The http://www.cialisgeneriquefr24.com/achat-cialis-discret/ very stylish Alonso Mateo is an Instragram celebrity with 43.7K followers showing everyone that even a 7 year old likes to experiment with fashion.

A big thank you to Jacob Trentini and Smiling Button for providing me with the images for this blog. Jacob and his family are dear clients and friends of mine. I am extremely fortunate to style him for photo shoots and assist in his seasonal wardrobe.

Smiling Button founder Caroline Leed designs with her young self in mind. The brand is as straightforward as the dresses themselves. Smiling Button has created five classic styles with patterns that change seasonally. Each dress comes with a smiling button, of course, and also pockets—perfect for hiding animal crackers and yo-yos! If you are in Nantucket head over to their pop up store or www.smilingbutton.com

As always I hope I have inspired you and your little one.

Summer 2015 Tops Menswear Trends (well the ones that I am excited to share):

It’s really no secret that I love, I’m going say it again LOVE menswear. Menswear has certainly come a long way, especially in recent years. The gents are just as eager to identify trends and carving out their own personal fashion style. Designers are listening by creating more in depth lines including ready to wear and fantastic accessories. Social media relating to this topic are exploding. Bloggers, Pinterest and Instagram are helping the fashion hungry gain style tips and information on how to look on point. I adore my male clients and truly enjoy styling for one of my favorite menswear magazines “Talk of the Town”. Here are a few of my desired summer trends.

Blackout Watches: A timepiece not only helps keep you punctual, but also it’s truly the safest and easiest way a man can accessorize. If you are looking to stay on top of this season’s trend, select an all black watch. It’s effortlessly cool and undeniable masculine. Nearly every brand from luxury high end to mass marketers incorporates this model into their repertoire. Since it has more of a sporty feel, try it with your weekend garb vs. teaming with your 9 to 5 suits.

Seeing Red: This rich hue is one of this seasons must have colors. Red is a strong tone, therefore needs to be matched with softer and natural shades. Now is not the time to grab a suit in this color, leave that for the runway. Rather select a blazer, pants or shorts in this hue, otherwise go subtle with a pocket square or tie.

Stripes: Reach for stripes this summer as the nautical look is thoroughly prevailing. It’s one of the easiest patterns to pull off mixing well with other prints and should be in every modern gents wardrobe. Both luxury designers and high street giants are putting a new twist on the traditional classic. This season the stripes are wide, vertical and bold in color. Grab this print in a blazer, t-shirt or sweater. Just make sure you anchor your look with basics and muted surrounding pieces.

Denim: Currently, denim is not just for your legs. Designers decided to redefine this hardwearing fabric into pieces aside from jeans. They have created a modern twist by using this cloth for blazers, trench coats and shirts. Over the summer, you will see while browsing through stores pieces that reflect era of the 1970′s, the century’s most psychedelic decade. The denim jacket made popular by Levi is back and is paired with your favorite skinny denim. Make sure you keep it modern by teaming a simple t-shirt or crisp button down.

Backpacks: Now more than ever, brand directors are incorporating into their lines chic and stylish pieces for the well-traveled man. This season the backpack has taken center stage. Not the traditional school black canvas backpack, but a sleek version in exotic skins and leathers with unique hardware and interesting details. Grab one for your carry-on as it’s a sure fire way of looking super stylish walking to your gate.

Athletic Wear. Once again this season, designers incorporated the “athletic inspired” appearance into their cialis composition lines, not to be donned while lifting iron. You will see sport inspired clothing with more of a dress up feel in fabrics such as neoprene, mesh and cotton jersey. This also includes the all white sneaker and retro baseball hats.

Modern Loafer: This time of year, you will see a modern spin on traditional designs, while shopping in the shoe department. The loafer is no exception, with options in an array of bold hues and tassels including beaded adornment. Skip the socks, cuff the denim and pair with a simple cotton t-shirt or a fresh button down.

This certainly is a way to kick up your tie clip collection. Pair it with a simple design or solid tie. (John Hardy Men’s Naga Sterling Silver Dragon Tie Clip)

Tie Clips: Tie clips have made their return to be wildly popular, as of recent with shows like “Mad Men.” This trend is for the male who likes to dabble that bygone era. The tie clip is known to be more fashionable then it is functional. More and more jewelers are putting their own spin onto this trend with embellished silver bars, colored metal and interesting shapes.

The Fedora: The fedora has resurged thanks to celebrities sporting them everywhere. If you are looking for something to freshen up your wardrobe, this style hat is for you. This season the fedora brim is slightly longer and the shades are lighter. Placement is key; it should frame your eyes and not hide your face.

As always I hope I have inspired you to look outside your comfort zone and try something new.

Empowering YOU makes me beyond happy.

Why I love pearls…and think you should too!

“Pearls are always appropriate”

Oh, I not only 10,000 percent agree with Queen of Camelot’s statement, but I continue to proudly shout her words of wisdom. For anyone who knows me past, present and (for certain future) is cognizant that I worship (big word) pearls. These treasures of the sea are a must have staple of mine, ever since my grammy bestowed a pair to me at the age of twelve. There was a solid decade that I wore some type of pearl accessory daily and considered it my “signature,” still do. I went through all 4 collegiate years, first dates, job interviews, in fact, every milestone of my life wearing these iridescent beads. They simply have become part of me. When donning, I instantly feel sophisticated, elegant and well pretty. Jackie O would have been pleased for sure. May sound a little crazy my pearl obsession, however totally normal to me and well to Coco Chanel who said “A woman needs ropes and ropes of pearls.” (Agreed!)

How to think outside the style box with regards to pearls:

Great example of stacking different sized, shaped and color pearls. Also love the way they are cascading around her neck.

Mix metals with your gems: For a trendy look, pair your pearls with other necklaces such as chunky chains, rhinestones, simple gold lariats and bayer levitra uk mg other gem stones. This certainly will create a statement. Talk about instant pizzazz and a look that is totally “street fab worthy”.

Pile on your pearls: Make Coco proud and layer on your pearls. Stack multiple strands of pearls of different sizes, shapes and colors. This look can be worn with day and night outfits as well as a necklace or bracelet combination. You can choose to cluster the stands together on your neck to create a thick statement or add a layering affect by having the stands cascading. The classic white hue should not be your only go to color. To create impact, mix the traditional color gem with black, grey and even pastels colors.

Blend your trends: If you are a girl that would rather opt for a more modern approach to the classic bead, no problem! Now more than ever, companies have created pieces that are a far cry from your “grandma’s” simple stands and studded pearl earrings. As of recent, designers entice us to buy wrap around earring cuffs and exaggerated oversized pearls. For a non-traditional look, wrap your beads around your head. This is perfect for attending a festival in LA or channeling your inner bohemian gal.

Add Impact: Grab a rhinestone brooch and clip it to your pearl necklace, even better if you add multiple stands. This is a sure fire way of bringing your simple pearls from traditional drab to modern fab with a simple adornment. Placement is key; make sure your attachment is off centered closer to the collarbone. You want to look like it’s off symmetrical and less fussy.

I would like to thank Laguna Pearl for providing me with a beautiful pearl necklace. I am truly honored and will proudly wear them with a smile on my face. I hand selected a couple of my favorite products to feature within this blog. Even in the world of pearls my motto “go big or go home” applies here, check out that gorgeous ring! I am also coveting those stunning earrings, they have hit the top of my must have list, hopefully yours too. Laguna Pearl’s online business has been around for two decades and chooses to sell directly to the consumer at prices that would make anyone happy. We “continually thrive on providing high quality pearl jewelry products with the best customer service on the Internet.” Another huge bonus about Laguna Pearl is their customer service. Customer satisfaction is of the utmost importance and to me that is worth its weight in gold. Their high quality pearl jewelry products truly stand out as a wonderful accessory with any type of style. I highly suggest you head on over to www.lagunapearl.com.

As always I hope I inspired you. If so send me a picture or message. xo-CK

2015 Kentucky Derby, yes the fastest two minutes in sports but a weekend full of fantastic fashion!

This past weekend I was fortunate to be a guest of Longines, the exquisite timepiece for equestrians fans and beyond, at the 141st Kentucky Derby. They are also happen to be the official sponsor of the weekend events. What an incredible thrill, as I am a horse racing fan and a fashion fanatic, the perfect combination.

What you wear is just as important as the 3 year old colts running the 10 furlongs to the finish line. It’s a long honored tradition to make a splash with regards to ones ensembles. Oversized hats are a must for women and this year the fascinator (the head band version) took center stage thanks to Kate Middleton. http://www.cialispharmaciefr24.com/cialis-composition/ The ladies attire was feminine and sophisticated, the sheath dress was the “go to” dress paired with a lip and a heel. The men were equally dapper, with seersucker suits, oxfords, walking sticks (yep) and straw fedoras. I felt like I was walking into a Great Gatsby novel.

IMG_6879Saturday before the Derby, The Longines Kentucky Oaks Fashion Contest is held, now an annual tradition and equally as important as the race itself. On this day, women flock midday to the pink carpet with a numbered paddle in hand to the podium dressed in their “best”. Donning their frocks to twirl around in front of the celebrity judges. Some wear head to toe in various shades of pink matching the carpet, in support of breast cancer awareness. This year’s panel of judges included Monte Durham (What Not to Wear), Mikaela Shiffrin (All American champion skier), and Akcia Quarles (E! News) had the arduous task of selecting the one woman out of 200 to be this year’s winner of the Longines Conquest Classic timepiece and the title of Ms. Longines Kentucky Oaks Fashion Content. Although I was honored to be selected to walk the carpet and be judged, in the end a beautifully dressed woman, wearing vintage and carrying a champagne bucket as a purse (awesome) took the prize.

I was truly honored to be part of the record breaking crowd for The Run of the Roses and big congratulations to American Pharaoh for winning the race. It truly is the most exciting two minutes in sports and a spectacular ALL weekend fashion show.

I have included some of the very on-point (fashionably speaking) attendants in their fashions. Thanks to those who allowed me to shutter bug them.

Add style to your daily workout threads- oh yeah!

Oh I’m going to get in trouble with what is about to be declared, but here it goes…. I (Candace Kristin) am over women wearing faded, ill fitting, overly worn and tattered workout clothes morning, noon and night. It’s time to clean up our daily “runway” (aka the streets) and start taking a cue from Parisian gals. I get it, whether you workout or not, it’s easy to fall into the routine by waking up, reaching for clothes that are easy, not difficult to think about and one step above pajamas. I did just about the same not to long ago.

Recently, on a trip to Paris, I discovered that the only people I witnessed wearing their Nike running sneakers (all day) were fellow Americans. I’m not saying that we need don heels, skirts and a silk scarf (after hitting the gym), but try putting a little “style” in the workout uniform. An outfit you can take from treadmill or child’s pose to afternoon coffee or running errands. If you choose to live in your “lulu” threads (not judging I do it too) by adding a bit of tweaking you can look chic all day. The good news is athletic designers are creating fashionable apparel to inspire you well beyond the gym.

Style up your workout clothing by these simple steps:

• With retailers/boutiques such as Lululemon, Athleta, Sweaty Betty, Emily Hsu Designs, Carbon 38 you can purchase dashing athletic attire from head to toe that will amp up your a-game stylishly.

• Toss aside your boring grey sweatshirt and go for a hip off the shoulder one, bold in color with a fun motif (like skulls, butterflies or a heart). Bonus if you find one with a little sparkle adornment.

• An easy way to take your simple gym clothes from drab to fab is adding layers. Put on a fun scarf paired with a zip-up hoodie and throw over a faux fur vest or bright puffer vest (why not)?

•Pack your running sneakers in a separate bag and head to the gym in slip-on leather flats, cool metallic hunter boots (if raining) or kicked-up UGGS (not the plain ones please, leave those for the 12 year olds)!

• To add pizzazz to your workout attire, make sure your bag is just as chic. Throw your water bottle, wallet, MP3 player and other necessities into a cool looking vessel. Something that could hold up to its own tough workout and still look great while lunching. Look for materials like durable leather or nylon. My new gym bag obsession is MZ Wallace.

• Grab fashionable headphones. You can now listen to your tunes in style by sporting cool listening devices. Look at companies like hip-hop designed Beats, Ankit’s playful donuts earbuds as well as their Galaxy floral motif headsets (FUN). Another personal favorite is the rose gold Frends.

• Finally add a pair of cool shades, aka sunnies. I tend to use my motto here “go big or go home” and look for oversized frames. Like Tom Ford, Marc by Marc Jacobs or grab a pair of Ray-Bans. They are a sure fire hit to complete a chic athletic look.

As always, I hope I have inspired you to look outside your comfort zone and try something new. Empowering YOU makes me beyond happy. -xo CK
